I’m glad you put up The Cross 1, that is my favorite work of yours (that I’ve seen). Keep them coming! :-)

Hey there, L_mom … I thought I was all alone here in the middle of the night :)

      • louisiana_mom

Sleepless night, thought I would do a little reading. About to go back to bed. Good night, Tonto. I’ll read ya’ tomorrow. :-)

I do love your artwork… Styrofoam? I would have never guessed. You have talent.

          Thanks again ;-D
I am going to take a nap now myself …

Real nice art work, I am no artist but I like to carve on gun stocks. Things like oak leaves, deer, wild hogs and dogs. The carvings can make plain guns look real nice. I recently bought a book on gun engraving and it is something I might try in the future.

Good luck. I tried “whittling” a few years ago (I made a few Christmas decorations) it was a great medium to use.

            You ARE an artist ;-D
            Thank you ;-D

What medium are you using when you do these?

Hey Montana, happy to see you stop by (finally!!)

I’m usually a rather patient sort, but doggone it, you did take your time in arriving to this spanking new site. It’s OK, all is forgiven, buddy. I’m just delighted I can talk with another Mac person here ๐Ÿ˜‰

That is a great question … these are “sculptural paintings” … these two are actually Styrofoam which is chemically etched to create the desired relief then each receives a plaster-like coating before they are painted with series of acrylic coatings … many of the other pieces that I have done and will eventually post are similar to these but also include embossed paper, water colors, drawings and found objects. I started out working with concrete, but that proved to be inconvenient to “hang on the wall” so had to develop this technique which has been many years in the making :)

The “Textures in the Multiverse” is my favorite. I would love to have that on my wall. quite contemplative and open to wide ranges of interpretations. Nice depth and variations of textures. I find it draws the eye in without being too fatigueing. The others are very nice pcs. also.

It can be yours, if you’re serious ๐Ÿ˜‰
Send me an email (see the Soap Box) and I can send you more information about it :)

These are very cool! Love The Cross1. I’ve never thought of working with styrofoam! But then again, I haven’t done sculptural stuff in a long time. Excellent idea!

Thanks for the details! I wouldn’t have guessed styrofoam…. I’m sure the images don’t do them justice. Maybe next time I’m in the Hoosier state visiting family, we can set up a neutral venue for you to show them off!

    Talent, you’ve got it.

I have always loved your artwork, Tonto. I look forward to seeing more of it.
